AT first glance, anyone would be forgiven for thinking that they had entered the 1940s when they stepped inside the grounds of the Old Mill, Aldermaston on Saturday.

In fact, it was the annual Aldermaston and Wasing Show, which saw more than 1,000 people getting into the รขโฌโข40s spirit รขโฌโ which was this yearรขโฌโขs theme.
Old favourites such as the duck derby, egg throwing competition and produce show were accompanied by The Sainsbury Singers and comical trio All Things Forties to keep the crowds entertained.
Historic planes from Brimpton Airfield also flew over the grounds.
Several competitions were run, with Daisy Ladley, aged eight, winning รขโฌหbest-dressed duckรขโฌโข and Shauna Rosario, aged eight, winning รขโฌหcleverest dogรขโฌโข with her pup, Blaze, to name a few.
Show secretary Jennifer Lacon said that it had been a รขโฌลbrilliantรขโฌย day and revealed that the 450-car parking area was overflowing, with a shuttle service to and from the village also being run.
รขโฌลWe had to let people out before we could let people in,รขโฌย she said, adding that the effort from spectators and staff alike was something to be praised.
รขโฌลEveryone went above and beyond what I anticipated them to do.
รขโฌลAldermaston certainly can be proud.รขโฌย
The total amount raised from the day is still being calculated and all profits will go towards the redecoration of Aldermaston St Maryรขโฌโขs Church.
